Group Therapy
We have currently have groups running for social skills and fluency. Each group was run by one of our highly qualified, certified, and licensed Speech-Language Pathologists.
Youth Fluency (Stuttering) Group:
* practice carryover of fluency strategies to other situations and settings
* enhancing appropriate responses to communication break-downs
* counseling to help deal with the social implications of stuttering
Social Skills Group:
* turn-taking during conversation
* negotiation in play (choosing a game; choosing a color)
* appropriate reactions to winning and losing
* asking questions
* participating in conversation
* showing empathy and compassion
* offering help
* understanding and reacting to feelings appropriately
* making and interacting with friends
Adult Fluency Group:
* how to use fluency strategies in the work place
* use of relaxation techniques
* counseling for social implications of stuttering
* enhancing appropriate responses to communication break-downs in the work place and during social situations
Youth Fluency (Stuttering) Group:
- Targeted Participants: This group is designed for children who stutter
- Targeted Age: elementary school or middle school
- Targeted Skills:
* practice carryover of fluency strategies to other situations and settings
* enhancing appropriate responses to communication break-downs
* counseling to help deal with the social implications of stuttering
Social Skills Group:
- Targeted Participants: This group is designed for any child demonstrating difficulty with age-appropriate social and play skills
- Targeted Age: Elementary School
- Targeted Skills:
* turn-taking during conversation
* negotiation in play (choosing a game; choosing a color)

* participating in conversation

* offering help
* understanding and reacting to feelings appropriately

Adult Fluency Group:
- Targeted Participants: Adults with a Stuttering Disorder
- Targeted Skills:
* how to use fluency strategies in the work place
* use of relaxation techniques
* counseling for social implications of stuttering
* enhancing appropriate responses to communication break-downs in the work place and during social situations
