Group Therapy

***We do not currently have any active groups.  However, when have enough participants, we plan to start them up again.  Please let us know if you are interested and we will get you on the list!***

We have previously offered a speech growth group, a social skills group, and a "Mommy and Me" language development group.  Each group was run by one or two of our highly qualified, certified, and licensed Speech-Language Pathologists.

Speech Growth Group:
  • Targeted Participants:  This group is designed  for children with childhood apraxia of speech, phonological process disorder, or significant articulation errors that impact their ability to be understood by others
  • Targeted Age:  3-6 years old
  • Each session is centered around a theme-based activity  and theme-based vocabulary
  • Targeted Skills:  

            *  practice speech production of targeted, theme-based vocabulary
            *  practice of rote phases appropriate to group participation
            *  enhancing appropriate responses to communication break-downs
  • Each session routine is as follows:

           * Motor/music activity
           * Thematic lesson with targeted vocabulary for speech production
           *  Play with peers with guided practice of appropriate use of speech and language targets

Social Skills Group:  
  • Targeted Participants:  This group is designed for any child demonstrating difficulty with age-appropriate social and play skills
  • Targeted Age:  Please call or email us for more information on the different age groups
  • Targeted Skills:  

            *  appropriate greetings and farewells
            *  turn-taking in group play and during conversation
            *  negotiation in play (choosing a game; choosing a color)
            *  appropriate reactions to winning and losing
            *  asking questions
            *  participating in conversation
            *  showing empathy and compassion
            *  offering help
            *  understanding and reacting to feelings appropriately

"Mommy and Me" Language Development Groups:  
  • Targeted Participants:  Toddlers and Preschoolers who are having difficulty learning to talk and difficulty with preschool readiness skills
  • Activities include:

            *  songs and fingerplays to support language development
            *  theme-based stories targeting vocabulary growth
            *  activities targeting letter knowledge, rhyming, and other early literacy skills
            *  activities to support turn-taking and group participation
  • All lessons taught by a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist
